An appointment may be helpful if:

  • A bone density scan has shown osteoporosis or osteopenia.

  • You have had a fracture and want advice about your bone health.

Osteoporosis and bone health

Understand your bone health and explore your treatment options

If you have been diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia, you may be wondering how serious the findings are, whether you need treatment and how to reduce your risk of future fractures.

Dr Mirzazadeh assesses and manages osteoporosis and other metabolic bone disorders. Your consultation may include a review of previous fractures, medical history, medication, blood tests and available bone density scan results.

He can help you understand your findings, consider possible contributing factors and discuss a personalised management plan.

You can also request a review if you have concerns about an existing treatment or have had difficulty tolerating it.

Bring any previous DEXA scan reports, relevant blood results and a list of your current medicines.

High cholesterol and triglycerides

Specialist assessment when cholesterol management is more complex

High cholesterol can raise questions about inherited risk, the right treatment and what to do if medication causes side effects.

Dr Mirzazadeh has expertise in managing high cholesterol and triglycerides, including inherited disorders of metabolism and patients who cannot tolerate standard therapies.

A consultation may be helpful if:

  • Your cholesterol remains high despite treatment.

  • You have been told you may have an inherited cholesterol disorder.

  • Close relatives have high cholesterol or a history of premature cardiovascular disease.

  • You have struggled with side effects from cholesterol-lowering medication.

  • Your triglycerides are raised and you need further assessment.

Dr Mirzazadeh can review your results and treatment history, assess relevant risk factors and discuss suitable management options. Where clinically appropriate, this may include consideration of newer biological therapies.

Any treatment recommendation depends on your individual assessment, suitability and access arrangements.

Recurrent kidney stones

Investigate contributing factors and discuss prevention

  • Repeated kidney stones can be painful and disruptive. Once the immediate episode has been treated, you may want to understand why stones are recurring and whether anything can be done to reduce the likelihood of further episodes.

  • Dr Mirzazadeh offers metabolic assessment and management for recurrent kidney stones.

  • Depending on your history, this may involve reviewing previous stone analysis, blood and urine results, imaging reports, medicines and relevant dietary factors. Further investigations may be recommended to help guide a prevention plan.

  • This is a planned assessment and prevention service. It does not provide emergency treatment or procedures to remove kidney stones.

Specialist interpretation of blood test abnormalities

Put your results into context

Some blood test abnormalities need interpretation alongside your symptoms, medical history, medicines and previous results.

Dr Mirzazadeh’s expertise includes the interpretation of results relating to calcium and sodium metabolism, vitamin deficiencies including vitamin D, and hormones.

If you have been advised to seek specialist input, our team can check whether your concern falls within his clinic scope before arranging an appointment.

Please share relevant reports through the clinic’s agreed secure process.

FAQ's

What is metabolic medicine?

Metabolic medicine involves the assessment and management of disorders affecting the body’s chemical processes.

Dr Mirzazadeh’s clinical interests include osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, cholesterol and triglyceride disorders, recurrent kidney stones and selected blood test abnormalities.

Can I book an osteoporosis consultation in Guildford?

Yes. You can request a private consultation with Dr Mirzazadeh at VR Private Clinics in Guildford to discuss osteoporosis, osteopenia, bone health concerns or an existing treatment plan.

Please bring any relevant DEXA scan reports, blood results and details of previous fractures or treatment.

Can Dr Mirzazadeh help if I cannot tolerate cholesterol medication?

Dr Mirzazadeh has expertise in assessing patients who cannot tolerate standard cholesterol treatments.

He can review the medicines you have tried, your symptoms, cholesterol results and relevant risk factors before discussing suitable options. Specific treatments are recommended only after individual assessment.

Is this a kidney stone removal service?

No. This clinic focuses on metabolic assessment and prevention for recurrent kidney stones.

If you need a procedure to treat or remove a stone, a urology service may be required. New severe pain, fever or feeling acutely unwell requires urgent medical assessment rather than a routine appointment.

Can I attend for a second opinion?

Yes. You can request an appointment to review an existing diagnosis or management plan within Dr Mirzazadeh’s areas of expertise.

Please provide relevant letters and investigation results so the team can check suitability before confirming your appointment.

Do I need a GP referral?

Contact our team before booking and we will advise on the referral information needed for your appointment.

If you are using medical insurance, your insurer may require a referral and authorisation before you attend.

Do I need blood tests or a scan before my appointment?

Please provide any relevant results you already have. Our team will advise if particular information is needed before your consultation.

You do not need to arrange additional private tests yourself unless advised to do so.

Are tests included in the consultation fee?

No. Blood tests, scans and other investigations are charged separately. Any additional costs will be explained before you agree to proceed.

How much does an appointment cost?

An initial consultation is £300. A follow-up consultation is £225.

Investigations, medication and other treatments are charged separately where required.

When are appointments available?

Dr Mirzazadeh offers Saturday consultations by prior arrangement.

Please request your appointment at least two days in advance. Availability and your appointment will be confirmed by the clinic.
