Private ECG at Home in Surrey & Kingston

A 12-lead ECG with a GP assessment at home

If you need an ECG and travelling to a clinic is difficult, our private GPs can provide a resting 12-lead ECG at home where clinically appropriate.

VR Private Clinics welcomes enquiries from Guildford, Esher, Cobham, Kingston upon Thames, Thames Ditton and surrounding areas.

Your GP will review the reason for the test, record the ECG, interpret it in the context of your assessment and explain the next steps.

Who may benefit from an ECG at home?

You may wish to enquire if:

  • Your GP or specialist has recommended a resting ECG.

  • You need an ECG as part of medication monitoring.

  • You have been advised to arrange a non-emergency heart assessment.

  • Reduced mobility makes it difficult to attend a clinic.

  • You are helping an older relative arrange an ECG.

Tell us why the ECG is needed and whether the patient has any current symptoms. Our team can check if a home appointment is suitable.

What happens during a home ECG?

Your GP will discuss the reason for the test, relevant symptoms, medical history and medicines.

Small adhesive electrodes are placed on the chest and limbs. The ECG records the heart’s electrical activity while you rest.

The GP reviews the recording alongside the clinical assessment and explains the result and any recommended next steps.

What can a resting ECG show?

A resting ECG records the heart’s electrical activity, including rate and rhythm. It can help identify some rhythm and conduction abnormalities.

It is a short recording, so an intermittent problem may not appear during the test. A normal ECG does not exclude every heart condition.

Depending on your symptoms, longer heart monitoring, blood tests, imaging or specialist assessment may be recommended.

Is a cardiologist report included?

Your home ECG includes GP interpretation as part of the agreed service.

A separate cardiologist report or consultation is not included unless specifically stated in your quote. If you need a particular report for a specialist or another organisation, please tell us before booking.

Preparing for your home ECG

Please have your medication list, any referral letter and previous ECG results available.

Wear clothing that allows access to the chest and limbs. Avoid applying lotion or oil to the chest beforehand.

Tell us if you would like a chaperone or have any access or communication needs.

Areas and fees

Home ECG enquiries are welcome from Guildford, Esher, Cobham, Kingston, Thames Ditton and surrounding areas.

We confirm postcode coverage, doctor availability and the total fee before booking. Further investigations, specialist reports or follow-up appointments are charged separately unless included in your quote.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as an echocardiogram?

No. An ECG records electrical activity. An echocardiogram uses ultrasound to assess the heart’s structure and function.

Is this a 24-hour ECG?

No. This appointment is for a resting 12-lead ECG. Longer heart-rhythm monitoring is arranged separately where appropriate.

Can I have an ECG during a GP home visit?

Yes, where appropriate and arranged in advance. The doctor needs the correct equipment and sufficient appointment time.

Can I request a copy?

Please ask the team about receiving a copy and sharing relevant findings with your usual clinician.
