24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) in Guildford & Surrey
Accurate private blood pressure assessment with fast access
If you’re concerned about high blood pressure — or you’ve been told you may have hypertension — a 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitor (ABPM) is one of the most accurate ways to assess your true blood pressure levels.
At VR Private Clinics, we offer ABPM monitoring within our Hypertension Optimisation Pathway, coordinated quickly and interpreted in clinical context.
Patients often seek private ABPM when they want:
-
clarity, not uncertainty
-
accurate diagnosis
-
faster action than NHS timelines
-
a proper plan and follow-up
We support patients from:
Guildford, Godalming, Woking, Cobham, Weybridge, Esher, Farnham, Haslemere, Leatherhead and Kingston upon Thames.
What is ABPM?
ABPM measures your blood pressure repeatedly over 24 hours, including:
-
daytime readings
-
evening readings
-
night-time readings
This gives a true picture of your average blood pressure and helps guide:
-
whether medication is needed
-
whether treatment is working
-
your long-term cardiovascular risk
ABPM is included in our Hypertension Optimisation Pathway

Frequently Asked Questions
Is ABPM uncomfortable?
Most people tolerate it well. It inflates periodically over 24 hours and may cause mild temporary discomfort.
Can I go to work while wearing it?
Yes — you can typically continue normal daily activity.
Do I need ABPM if I already have a home BP monitor?
Home monitoring helps, but ABPM is more objective and includes night-time readings.
Can ABPM help reduce medication?
Sometimes. If readings are only elevated in clinic, ABPM can prevent unnecessary treatment.
